Max Chaoul Wedding Couture 2013

There are times when delving into the past can be a good thing - as designer Max Chaoul demonstrates in his outstanding Couture Bridal Collection for 2013. The French couturier takes a look back at the different fashion eras from the 1920's to now, and uses this antique inspiration to construct gowns that convey a certain wow-factor.

"Vintage Décennies" (Vintage Decades) is a resplendent set of couture wedding gowns intended for a varied bridal audience. Bold fluorescents represents a youthful bride with an eye for the exuberant. Adriana is reminiscent of a glow-in-the-dark jellyfish while Katy typifies a futuristic pop princess. If hot pink and tangerine are way out of your comfort zone, there are many vintage inspired looks that will appeal to your romantic side.

Named after iconic stars of yesteryear, like Grace Kelly and Brigitte Bardot, each ivory and white masterpiece embraces the glamour of retro silhouettes, which has been modified to suit the 21st century bride-to-be. Flapperesque dresses with long beaded necklaces, tiered frills and headbands pay tribute to the 20's (Paulette & Maureen), and dainty lace drop waist dresses with fluid column skirts depict the thirties (Janet & Norma). The forties subscribe to sophistication with gowns modeled after Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake.

Voluminous satin ballgown skirts remind us of the feminine 50's (Elizabeth & Grace), whilst shorter frocks cite the frivolous sixties. The 70's are denoted by hippie chic lace and georgette dresses. Moving into a more memorable time, massively ruffled skirts and extravagant princess gowns shaped the 80's and 90's, which slowly fizzled out into more minimalistic looks.

Today, you can have a wedding gown in highlighter yellow that will ensure an unforgettable stroll down the aisle (just make sure you provide your guests with some sunglasses for the glare). Or, you can find inspiration in the enchantment of a vintage fashion era which Max Chaoul has redefined to fit into the present.

Here is a look at Max Chaoul's Couture Wedding Collection 2013.

Morning Sam! Thanks a bunch for your nice words over mine, really appreciate you like the place, you should come one day!:) Btw, this wedding collection is so outstanding and impressive! Have to admit that the mood impressed me so much, the mix of different vintage styles is so bold and original. Regarding wedding gowns, I honestly prefer something more classic and in the usual white color, so Lana and Aimante are definitely my choices. Love the embroidery and the lace on them:) Kisses dear, have a wonderful week ahead! xo

Oh no, not wedding gowns! ;) Hehehe.. I look at wedding dresses way too much. I have a whole tag for my future wedding on Tumblr in case it ever happens. Haha!

Some of these are so 1920s inspired... seriously, it's like I'm in the Great Gatsby era all over again! That second dress lined with neon frills is seriously impressive, but I don't think I'd be daring enough to don it at my wedding, haha. I love Faye so much, though. That basket weaved corset is gorgeous!

I'm nowhere near to planning a wedding, but these gowns almost make me wish I were :) They are simply stunning! Surprisingly enough, I love the idea of neon yellow gown, although that would probably not play well with my conservative family :) I also love the Louise model, reminiscent of 20's flapper style: I would pick it in a different shade for a wedding of a friend I'll be attending in October.

Hope you are well, sweetie!

xx Ivana

Out of this collection I like the most the second and eight row - inspired by the 20's. However, I would see myself getting married in something like the Twilight wedding dress, http://www.101weddingdressideas.info/225-twilight-wedding-dress.html. Thank you Sam for your ever so lovely comment on my blog!
